Abstract
Purpose: It is important for university students to establish appropriate health promoting behaviors. Various emotional statuses such as anger that university students experience can influence their health promoting behaviors, and resilience can ameliorate the level of their stress. Thus, the purpose of this study was to explore the influence of anger and resilience on the health promoting behaviors of university students.

Methods: Data from 208 university students were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson¡¯s correlation coefficients and hierarchical multiple regression.

Results: Health promoting behaviors were positively associated with anger-control and resilience, negatively associated with trait anger, state anger, anger-in and anger-out. The equation consisting of subjective health status and resilience explained 48.7% of variance of health promoting behaviors of university students.

Conclusion: Considering these results, developing and implementing programs that can improve appropriate anger expression and resilience are needed.
